Governance

Supporting you to deliver the most appropriate governance for your organisational context

Overview

Depending on who you are, Corporate governance is either ‘the system by which companies are directed and controlled’ (Cadbury 1992, p. 15) or taking a more relational-structural view adopted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD); “Corporate governance involves a set of relationships between a company’s management, its board, its shareholders and other stakeholders. Corporate governance also provides the structure through which the objectives of the company are set, and the means of attaining those objectives and monitoring performance are determined” (OECD 2015, p.9) (Wikipedia)

Why its important now

Whether you’re a PLC, Charity, a public body or a private company who wants to do things properly there are numerous structural requirements and ways of working that you will want to adopt. During the 21st century we have witnessed increasing number of governance challenges come to the fore; child labour, executive transparency, conflicts of interest, ethical violations and so on. The ongoing focus on creating and sustaining positive workplaces is also fast becoming a governance issue. Some investors make their choices on governance health.
