Wow – a title like “International Negotiations Expert” makes me want to sit up and take note.  Fear not, whilst Simon is recognised as a global expert in this field following 15 years of specialist focus, he is also a jolly nice man.

Simon’s background is eclectic. He studied Physics at Bristol University and South-East Asian Studies at SOAS. He has worked in a record shop, at a Mediterranean yoga retreat and as a divemaster on a tropical island. He has performed as a stand-up comedian and as a trapeze artist (some gigs even combining the two!). Clearly… “dull” doesn’t enter the room when learning to be a master at negotiation!

He brings this diversity to his work too and has worked with every sector – finance, legal, public, tech, he has even taught hostage negotiators and worked with the British Army. He is a Visiting Lecturer at Imperial College and at the Royal College of Art and is the author of ‘The Leader’s Guide to Negotiation’, published by The Financial Times.

Prior to working in negotiation, he spent many years as a consultant in the asset management industry, designing the derivatives trading system used by the majority of asset management houses in the City.

Working from ‘C’ level downwards, his clients include Exxon Mobil, Panasonic, Johnson & Johnson, UNICEF, Lloyds Banking Group, Slaughter and May, Nike and many other similar organisations.

Our clients love working with Simon and we consistently hear that his negotiation coaching and tools are immensely helpful.

His work is based on solid research and his style is very participatory, ensuring all delegates are fully engaged and get the maximum possible out of the course. He believes it is important to bring a sense of fun to the training whilst absolutely making sure the delegates outcomes are met and their issues are resolved.

Simon loves to travel and has visited more than 80 countries around the world and worked in over 20. If you don’t bump into him crossing a jungle in some remote country, you might find him walking across the Brecon Beacons or cheering on West Ham United.
